I have been collecting books, games and movies that I hope will enhance the experience of staying at our log cabin. My goal is for folks to have fun, connect with nature and unwind. Here are some examples:
Games: Deeropoly (the hunter's version of monopoly), a cowhide checker set, backgammon, dominoes, horseshoes, lincoln logs, and several tools for hearth and campfire cooking. I want to get one of those cornhole games that are so popular, too.
Movies: Fried Green Tomatoes, Gone with the Wind, On Golden Pond, Funny Farm, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, A River Runs Through It, Second Hand Lions, RV, Field of Dreams, A Prairie Home Companion, It's a Wonderful Life, Homeward Bound and Last but not least....National Lampoon Vacation Series - (ok I know what you're thinking, but they are very funny!)
Books: Walden, the Foxfire Series, Ted Nugent's Kill It and Grill It Cookbook, a camouflage Bible, Adrianna Trigiani's Big Stone Gap series, and dozens of books about the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Regions(my neck of the woods).
I would love to know what you all consider to be log home/cabin entertainment! What are your favorite movies, books and games for a log home lifestyle?
Thanks!!
Anne
P.S. Thanks Shelley M. for the idea for this discussion.
