The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

Hi, folks! I'm interested in becoming a dealer/rep for a timberframe company. I'd like to build in NW Indiana soon. I am NOT a builder/contractor, but I have already located a contractor who can finish the "build-out" once the frame is up. Does anyone have a contact or company you can recommend? Thanks very much!!

Hey Rosemary:

There are few timber frame 'only' manufacturers, but most of the major players in our industry offer both timber frame and log home packages and accept custom orders. Additionally, the vast majority of these companies actively encourage their customers to become commissioned representatives. For many dealers, this is a full-time and lucrative business opportunity. Typically, the only requirement to become a dealer for a manufacturer is that you purchase your timber home package from them... but there are exceptions.

Two of the finest resources for locating manufacturers that offer dealer opportunities include the company that sponsors this wonderful community of ours, LogHome.com and our Log Home Directory. Either of these links will take you to the appropriate page(s) where you can find listings of all major manufacturers.

- LogHome.com company search

- Log Home Directory major manufacturers

I have also found that most manufacturers are open to creative ideas that will help them expand their business, so don't be shy about proposing something that makes good business sense.

Hope this helps you narrow your search and best of luck with your business plans.
