I’m in the planning stages of building a handcrafted log home. I very much like the appeal of a handcrafted log home but my dilemma is I can’t find reviews of how well a full scribe log home is over time especially after the drying/settling process. The other style log home I’ve been looking into is handcrafted however the logs are not scribed and leave varying gap widths for chinking. This method gives you 2 different looks and from what I understand allows the logs to independently dry since they aren’t scribed to the one above and below except for in the corners.
My question in in the end is, does anyone have a full scribe handcrafted home that is over 10 years old? Any problems or concerns while it ages?
