I have heard trends are running towards all square windows instead of angles and arches on great room window walls, what say you

To each his own, as an architect, it's all about personal preference.  I will say this though (having one myself):

I have squares at the bottom and the uppers are angled.  The angled windows look great, but create a much more difficult situation for the do it yourselfer.  It's near impossible to get a good location to lean a ladder against for cleaning/painting/staining, both inside and out.  All squares would also give you potential to include operable windows - I think that's the biggest complaint we have with our house - too many windows are fixed, and it would be wonderful to have operable windows in our living room.

Yeah glass cleaning.

I am going to do a bi fold window wall in my meager great room.

Thats about as much glass as I can stand to clean.  Dirty glass and smudges drive my wife crazy.  :)

Hey Greg.  You are talking about great room windows!  Does this mean that your spiral stairs are now installed?  If so I would love to see a photo.  I am almost to the stage where I will be starting to move my logs onto the foundations.  I was cutting a round hole in the logs yesterday for our hobbit front door :)
