The Log Home Neighborhood

An online (log home) community for log home enthusiasts.

Hi my name is Matt. I am new on here and relieved to have a site for getting info and advice as I start my log home build. We have got all the praticulars on the exterior ironed out but the interior is giving me fits. ine major question I have is whether or not black kitchen cabinets would go well in a log home. We are using 12in D shaped white pine logs and plan on polyeurathanig the interior wall. Not sure how back would go along with it. Any help or suggestions would be great!!!

Matt,

One nice benefit of raw wood walls is that the blonde/tan tones of pine are basically neutral. Almost any color - including black, will work. My only suggestion would be to have lots of lighting... direct and indirect to help brighten the room. Wood darkens with age, so a well-lit room where the intensity of light can be increased (dimmer switches) as needed would be a plus.

My advice? Build, decorate and accentuate to suit your tastes.
