i would like to install a new post and beam in my log home. i was told about a crank lift that will raise a beam 20 feet and allow you to bolt it in. what is this lift called?

Most equipment rental places will refer to that as simply a material lift, just specify that you want a manually operated one.

thank you, i have spent many hours on the net searching for that info.

My pleasure.

The forks hang below the top of the lift. You will have to make a jig to get the ceiling with the beam..

i thought i would install the 2 columns and bolt a plate to them. then lift the ceiling beam to the top of the column, install 1 lag screw into beam thru the plate. next use the material lift to raise the beam 22 ft to ceiling and bolt the beam using a plate to the main center beam. once set install all lag bolts. thx
