Hello:

Does anyone know of a great wood stain and/or sealant that has little to NO VOC's. I am doing the interior of my home and I'd like it to be as healthy as possible.

You can contact me at wycast@aol.com or here.

Thank you,

Lori

Hey Lori,

I would highly recommend UV Guard stain or Log Guard interior clear from Weatherall.  Both of these products are water based, very low VOC, low odor and work very well on the interior of a home.  Please let us know if we can provide any FREE samples or answer any other questions.--John

Thank you. I'll let you know.

Hello Lori,

John is correct, either of these products would meet your needs regarding low VOCs. Log Guard is designed specifically for interior use and has hardeners to help protect the finish. Check out this link for more details:

It comes in a satin or gloss finish and can be applied over UV Guard if you want to add some color to the interior instead of using it directly over the natural wood.

We can provide samples for testing if you like. Good luck in your search.

Thanks,

Brian

I've been painting for 20 years, low VOS's do not equal 'better health'.  A healthy diet and regular exercise are what you need!

I have used the Weatherall UV guard stains and have had a lot of success with both the UV Guard and UV Guard II stains and Log Guard Clear.   The key is applying them correctly.  They are also all classified as low VOC products having under 50 grams/liter so you shouldn’t experience any problems with strong odors during or after application.  By comparison, to meet EPA standards paints and stains must not contain VOC‘s in excess of 200 grams/liter.  Regardless of the product that you use I would get some product samples and create your own tests to make sure you’re getting the color and finish that you are looking for.  If you have questions on stain application or need some free samples you can send me an email or check the following link to our website.
