The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

Hi All,

I am Peggy and newcomer to the forum.

We bought a loghome which is 20 years old and in good condition. We would like to stain it this year... we know the previous owner used 'Cetol 1' and 'Cetol 23'. Some of my friend suggested 'Cetol log and siding' - is it ok to use it or should we rather stay with the

1 & 23 ?

Thanks a lot,

Peggy

I would recommend you contact Sikkens to get their recommendation.  To my knowledge, the formulations are similar (oil-based with alkyd resins) so you could probably use 1 over the other.  Whether or not look and color will be the same, I couldn't tell you.

I'm sure Sikkens has people do this all the time.  Contact them and they'll give you the best advice when using their products.

Hope that helps some!
