Washing Logs on the inside of home

Hi Dave And Julie Christiansen,

What you can do is use a bucket of water and sponges. I am not sure if you are using a cleaner with the water or not?

If you use a cleaner with the water you should pre wet the logs first. Then apply the cleaner from the bottom up and leaving it on 15 to 30 mins. Then rinse from the top down. Making sure you rinse throughly, throughly. Then you would need to wait 3 to 4 drying days before apply a polyurathane or stain.

This doeas help. We will be using a log wash cleaner since some of our logs were a bit dirty, even after sanding. Thanks again. Dave & Julie

You need to neutralize after you clean as well. Cleaners are alkaline. Wood is slightly acidic and so to pH balance the wood you need to apply a brightener/neutralizer after any cleaner. Not doing this can leave the wood darker and affect the performance of the finish you apply.
