The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

My wife and I purchased 38 acres of wooded undeveloped land in Southeastern Ohio back in 2009. I'm active duty Navy and will be retiring in September 2013. We will be building a log home on our property in Ohio, and looking to see if anyone knows where I can find a time line of the steps I need to ensure our home building goes as smooth as possible. We will need to run water and electric as well as a septic tank. We plan on digging a basement as well for our log home. Any assistance you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you for your time and assistance.

Very Respectfully,

Derek:  I used The Complete Guide to Contracting Your Home as a "guide" when building my log home 18 years ago.  It has a great time line in both list and matrix form of what to do and when.  Also I attached a 10 step guide that we use quite often with people asking the logical steps to take when going down this path along with a brief project time line that may be helpful.  Remember time lines are "typical" and not exact.  Job site location (remote, rural or suburban), weather, availability of building materials, etc will come in to play from project to project.   Hope this helps.  Donald

Don,

Thank-you for the advice, I've printed your attachments and will look for the book you used.
