A friend sent me this photo that apparently is from a neighborhood in Helena, Montana. Its one thing to have stray dogs, raccoons and deer wandering many neighborhoods, but a herd of elk is not something we see too often :-)

I don't own a Bernese Mountain Dog yet but I have finally convinced the hubby to let me get one! (He was lobbying hard for a pointer, lab or spaniel.) So now I am on a waiting list with this great breeder I found and doing all the research I can! I originally saw them profiled on Animal Planet and I've always wanted a "working" dog that would also make a good family dog and guardian. Has anyone had a Bernese Mountain Dog before or had any experience with them? I heard they are good with cats which is important for Marvin...

Hi...just joined. We have two golden retrievers, a 3 year old female called Shenandoah and a 4 month old male called Storm. He's named after the location of our land in Colorado, Storm Mountain. We also have two horses...my husband's quarter horse, Vegas, and my ex-racehorse Slewrey. So we have plenty of fur at our place! Can't wait to get our log home built and move all that fur to Colorado!

Just a quck note to say that I have two great dogs. Sasha, my basset hound and Murphy, my yellow lab. I don't have children and I consider them as my family. They love it when we go down to my vacation home in Gatlinburg. There, they can run free and I don't have to worry about them getting into the street. Take care!!

This is an unusual moment for George and Shady. Shady is 3 months old and keeps 2 yr. old George on his toes. She is usually stalking him, playing with his tail and generally being a nuisance. They always make us smile ! :)

Thanks Shelley, they all have a special place in our hearts! Lloyd is our last "rescue" and he is still trying to show the others he is the boss.
