Passing of a pet
This morning, Tuesday, Henry was not able to move his rear legs and was having trouble supporting himself with his front legs. We again took him to the vet. They took x-rays and this afternoon recommended that we take him to a neuro-specialist in Salt Lake City.
The specialist checked him out and advised us that the surgery we had considered would probably be less than 20% successful. He then did the equivalent to an MRI and found that three of his lower spinal disks had ruptured in his lower back. This caused bleeding into his spinal cord and a deteriation of the spinal cord.
We made the decision to have him put to sleep while he was still under sedation.
To the last few minutes Henry still insisted on getting down on the floor and playing.
Tomorrow we will take Henry to the cabin and bury him under a tree where he used to chase squirrels and chipmunks.

So sorry Wes. We pet people have a special place in our hearts for our furry friends. I sure hope the story about the Rainbow Bridge is true. All of our passed on beloved pets, waiting for us on the other side.

I am also so very sorry about your loss. Earlier this summer we were forced to put down our choclate lab of 14 years. Miss her dearly. I kept hoping she would pass in her sleep, but her circumstances were quite the same as yours, and the vet said nothing could be done. Again, my sympathy to you and your family.

We found another Jack Russell to replace Henry that we lost last July. Lilly is 5-months old and almost looks exactly like Henry. She already shows signs of being very dynamic. Loves to run around the house and outside. Chases the quail when they come down to feed.
She has a bit more brown and a darker top of her muzzle. We went to the cabin on Presidents Day and she thought the snow was great.
Oscar, our 11-year old JR, has gotten some of his youth back with her around to play with. - Attachments:

Just read your story. What a beautiful little fellow, with gorgeous eyes that brought tears to mine! Over 1-year after the passsing of my little buddy from congestive heart failure after 8 years of chasing anything he could, I still cry & miss him. We still have 2 other Beagles, but nothing fills the void in my heart from his passing. Henry is one fine looking pooch who you must still miss - it is sure tough to loose our furry best friends-they live in our hearts forever! Here is a picture when I had 3 beagles, they were staying out of trouble while were building our log cabin, and don't feel bad for them being fenced in, as I was in the fence with them-which was attached to our RV:)

It is always sad to lose a pet; they are such a huge part of our lives. No matter how many pets we lose, it never ever gets any easier. There sure will be a lot of animals waiting for us over the Rainbow Bridge.
