SO WHAT I HAVE IS 22 DOUGLAS FIR LOGS WITH THE BUT END 24 INCH ON THE AVG. THESE WERE CUT LAST SPRING THEY HAVE A 3 INCH TAPER IN 45 FEET... I WILL BE FALLING 30 MORE THIS WINTER,,,, WHAT I AM UP  AGAINST IS THE DOUGLAS FIRS I HAVE LEFT THE BUT ENDS ARE 18 INCH ON THE AVG.  ...SOME BIGGER SOME SMALLER,,, I DO HAVE A FEW GRAND FIR THAT AVG. AROUND 22 INCHES,, AND THE SILVER FIRS ARE 24 INCH AVG.   IS IT GOING TO BE OK TO MIX THE THREE DIFFERENT FIRS TOGETHER FOR THE WALL LOGS??????????? . ALL THE ROOF AND BEAM LOGS  ARE 24 INCH DOUG FIRS LOGS...          THANKS

Hi Marty,
Wow those are big logs for out west here. It is hard even to get a peeve on to roll them over.
Watch out for rot and bugs once they are down. It is only the natural way of things in this country to start wanting to break the wood down to soil.
