I did some work for Battle Creek years ago in the area of marketing. You are right Alan, they only do Milled log walls, with the typical tongue and grove configurations.

Hello all! I am new to the log home enthusiasts. I have been gathering info. to start my own log home project in a year or so. We nave found a floor plan we really like from a company called Battle Creek Log Homes. The Log Home Neighborhood has no reference to this company. I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of or dealt with Battle Creek. Any info. anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tim, congrats on your log home. Nothing can compare to the rush you feel when your logs are being stacked. Great big logs flying through the air - the crane operator and the log home crew acting like they can read each others minds.......it is awsome!!
The only advice I can give you is to allow plenty of time...sometimes it seems like our log home progress is moving at a glacier's pace. We are moving forward, just verrrry verrrryyyy slowly!

As of Mar. 4th Ontonagon total was 278 inches.

We are also building with Jerry Koski - on Lake Superior in Silver City. Tim I posted a note on your page - maybe we'll end up as neighbors. We met with Jerry in August and toured his homes - as well as spent some time out in the yard. We looked at a cabin out on Rabbit Bay - very nice but too small (it was for sale at that time and our Realtor - Karen Lahti took us out there). Right then and there we decided on Jerry - the rest fell in place. Hope to start building by 2011. If we come out this summer - we'll stop by to see your house in progress. Dee

My concern is for any problems I might avoid as I try to complete the home from the shell, to turnkey.

Rick, Jerry was very specific about all of that. I'm building approximately 5 miles from his yard. We spent the better part of 2 days looking at some of his homes locally, and everyone said he did as much as, if not more than he promised. And was on time and budget.

Tim, it looks like Koski knows what he is doing with his pine logs. They spend a lot of effort getting the logs air dried before they cut. How about your contract with them? Is it specific regarding what they will provide? Items like railings, stairs, hardware, etc. I have seen more than one unhappy customer haggling about their deck railing after the log home was set up.
