I made an outdoor patio with blocks of wood. The area is sheltered under the pine trees and will last a few years..water can pass between the blocks and gravel underneath. Putting slab rock around the edges for transition to grass. My board walk in background and BBQ on the North deck. PS. blocks of wood and wood slats for board walk were all free and salvaged from a local business.

Comment by Ms Sam Verigin on August 8, 2012 at 12:39am I used a rubber mallot (used to put a hubcap back on a car) to tap down each piece of wood and painted a coat of stain afterwards. The 'frame' was from 2x2s totally rejected because they had twisted so badly...perfect for my design!
I'm going to have to steal your idea! Love the look. I have a lot of white cedar pieces that I need to do something with.
