- Otis Farm Log Homes will build in Tn , Al , MS, GA ,Ak and KY. We are enviromentaly friendly. Never do we use green timber , only "DEAD STANDING" timber from high elevations in the Rocky Mountains. At Otis farm log Homes we use Western Cedar on the Porches and gable ends of the homes. All windows are trimmed with 2 x4 western cedar as well as all out side doors. Building with Dead Standing Timber!
We could not imagine building with any other logs other than "Dead Standing". Out of all the homes we have built , we haven't had a home with large cracks, shrinking and warping. All the drying process has been done before the tree was harvasted .

Just curious: Given the state of the housing industry, how has it impacted your business? As the editor of Log Home Living, I hear a range of reports from log home companies----some good, some not so good----about home buyers. I don't often hear from builders. Much of it depends on which part of the country they're in...for example, the mountain West is doing fine.
Again, just curious how things are in the trenches...
