Thanks, Terry and John
After several yrs of Log Home Living for ideas, my wife with much research selected Beaver Mtn. Log Homes in Hancock NY. We've made 3 trips there from Chicago area, and sev. trips to Morganton NC - have a builder. Beaver Mtn.…
terry, glad to hear it worked well for you. we feel our house has a lot of appeal and would likely sell in a reasonable time (maybe 2-4 months), but you just never know. don't want to get into a situation of having to give the house away. we realize…
John, Just wanted to give you some words of encouragement as there's always hope even in today's market......we placed our Florida (supposedly one of the worst markets for selling) home up for sale last July with hopes that it would sell sometime sp…
This is our fear as well. We're hoping to build next year, but wouldn't list our current house until early next spring, with the hope that the house would sell by the time we're ready to move into the log home. I know this is risky, but logistically…
We have a log home package picked out, and a builder in Morganton, NC area.
Our home in Naperville (Chicago) IL has been on market one year. We've taken all the price reductions possible and must sell here to proceed with the project.
If anyone…
Brent,
I'm sorry about your situation. It is stories like these that have directed me towards buying either a good kit up front or the logs cut the way I want and do it myself. I know you probably don't have that luxury and that sucks.
Too many pe…
I take everything back that I said in the previous post. Crockett Log Homes of Western Maryland LLC is a despicable and dishonest company. Please do not even consider this contractor to build your log home. After 3 years of promises, lies, not payin…
BryanLee.........your quote: "If i can build a house cheaper than you"......I have been in this business for 31 years and noone can build cheaper than me as I know every trick in the book.......I am not going to but there are so many "tricks" involv…
We have land from 2001 in Valdese NC (Morganton area)-East of Asheville. Plan to build log home in 2009 and retire there from Chicago area. We would like comments/ideas from anyone who's dealt with Kuhns Bros, Beaver Mountain and Expedition log homes.
Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?

Hi Brian & Kathy,
I actually was down to 2 log home providers - Kuhn Bros and Hiawatha - it was a hard choice, but I choose Hiawatha. Not to say I wasn't impressed by the Kuhns people as well. There are a lot of great log home companies out there - sometimes I believe it's who you connect with personally that you ultimately end up choosing as so many of them have quality products. Will you be attending the Log & Timber Expo in Schaumburg in October?
