Lightening stain on interior logs

I recently exposed a area of log wall that had been covered. The logs all  around this area have naturally darkened with 25 years of aging. I attempted to apply a water based stain to darken down the newly exposed logs and now they are too dark. I tryed sanding but that made things worse. Any suggestions for lightening the stain ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. DeborahSee More

Stain on interior logs

I recently exposed some logs on an interior wall when I removed a built in bar. The other logs had darkened considerably over time . In an effort to match the light logs I applied a water based stain and now they are too dark! I tried some light sanding but that made it worse. Any suggestions for lightening the stain? help!See More
