"That actually looks like a combination of tannin staining & mold to me. The dark bluish-brownish areas that go with the grain could be tannins.  Those don't affect the structure of the wood but don't make for a pretty look,…"

Just finished chemical stripping my logs and many are covered in black mold. You can't see it when the logs are dry, but when they are wet, they are a mess! This is the second time I have totally stripped down to bare wood and would really like to get this mold problem under control because I DO NOT INTEND ON EVER DOING THIS AGAIN!!!!
