"I think the treatment for lawn grasshopper can also be applied for the wood eating ones. Most grasshopper treatments would consist of bran bait with Nosema locustae. It's a protozoa that can kill grasshoppers one they are ingested. Place…"

"Hi Sandy, We recommend that you either poke a piece of wire into the holes and then spray a hardware store purhcased bee puffer spray or WD40 into the hole. After that fill the hole with E-Wood or a sealant like Energy seal so that the bee's…"

"If the grasshoppers are eating/digesting the borates, they are also being killed since borates interrupt an insects digestive system and it will die.  Two questions I have - have the logs been treated with borates (or not), and has a…"

"Hi Jim,   Sometimes in very humid situations some of the "salt" will be drawn back out onto the surface of the wood creating a powdery or slightly chalky effect. What you need to do now is simply rinse off the residue with clean…"

"Jim -   We have heard of crystals forming on the surface when the wood has absorbed as much borate as possible.  Chalky isn't exactly what it looks like, but more like salt crystals (like salt water has gotten on the wood).  Our…"

Shell-Guard RTU Problems.

We have a 8" D-profile log cabin in the Jay,Ny area that we have built 5 weeks ago. We have gone with Perma-Chink as our stain. Last Monday we log washed the cabin, on Wednesday we applied the Shell-Guard RTU to the logs in the shade, the weather was fairly humid. On Thursday and Friday it was still reading 25-30% with a moisture metre ( 15-18 before washing). Saturday it was drying out more but there was a white chalk that formed over the logs. Has anyone come across this before? any…See More
