Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
My name is Julie. I am married to a wonderful man. His name is Mike. We have two grown children who are married and each have three children. The joy of being grandparents is just wonderful!
Mike built our log cabin all by himself...He cut the logs and brought them home. Together we peeled the logs and set them aside for a few years to season them. Later we had them sawed and began to build our dream home. That was in 1982! We still haven't completed our home but we keep working away at it!
We are both Christians and love the Lord and enjoy sharing our faith with others. Looking forward to getting ideas from others for our cabin!
Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
Yes!! Husband built it in 1982...

Thanks Julie Ann, nice note. Yes, this Caroline person posted the same strange message to many people, it's all that's on her page. I think the blog administrator should be aware of the potential risks, not sure who that it though.

My father-in-law returns back to Oklahoma from Maine today. He is with Katahdin Cedar Log Homes and went up to have a look at the mill in Oakfield. With our temperatures in the low 70*'s today, I'd venture to say he'll be glad to be back home!

There are definitely a lot of good log home stains out there. we are biased towards Sansin stains. Sashco and Permachink also have very good products. We've used all 3 of them. Sashco and Sansin both make a good log cleaner too to use before you stain. Our humidity in Oklahoma summers (esp in the Lake area where we're at) is extremely high. For this reason, Sansin SDF stains seem to hold up the best.

Hi Julie! Thanks for your kind comments! I love the photos of your log home - so cozy and inviting! Your Christmas decoration photos were my favorite.  Log homes are the best settings for celebrating Christmas in my opinion!  Welcome to log home u and thanks also for visiting my blog. Shelley :-)

the photos on my page aren't actually my home (I wish!!) we do log home restoration on older log homes. they are pics of some of our work. I live on the Illinois river in Oklahoma. will begin to build a small log cabin on our property in the spring for guests who come up for the trout fishing. I'm anxious to get started!
