Hi Kim, We just completed a log restoration on a pine home that was 25years old. The second floor was log siding and we replaced numerous logs because the siding leaked. Whenever we build we try to discourage framed second floors for that reason.I would recommend chinking or caulking the siding after prepping and cleaning.
