What does 'going green' mean to you? Is the term overused or diluted?

As a baby boomer raised by an energy-conscious mother (heaven help you if you left the water running or didn't turn the lights off when you left the room), I have been a fan of 'green' before the concept was cool.

I'm thrilled to see that the new focus on energy-efficiency, earth-stewardship and healthy products appears to be here to stay.

I'd like to get feedback from our community regarding what these terms mean to you: green - natural - sustainable - eco- (as in eco-conscious, or eco-friend… Continue

So, would you have some word-play fun with me and tell me what these words bring to mind for you? Feel free to comment on what, if anything you think is important in your log home as far as the 'green' efforts go. Thanks!

Yes, that was our show, our first in Tampa. We have an amazing events team here. Chantilly is our biggest show every year, so you'll see even more exhibitors (including lenders, of course). see you there!

I attended the log show in Tampa last year and thought it was great. If you're responsible for staging it, take a bow. When I was there it didn't enter my mind to talk to any of the lenders, when I go back this year I'll make it a point to visit with them.
Once again, thanks for the information.

Hi sharon,
tell your kids to grow up faster, log home living is too important to wait too long.
I have thought about renting but unless I want to dig into my savings, renting doesn't help in generating the up front dollars to get things done.
You might be interested that the mortgage brokers, even the ones that specialize in construction loans, have pulled back their horns a great deal. Some have even stopped giving out those kinds of loans.
Thanks much for your input. It's the kind of information all of us should have for reference.

Hmm. So you're the GM for these great mags and log show and don't own a log home ... how come. If you can't swing it is there hope for the rest of us struggling fools trying to pull it all together.
Seriously though, it nice to have a member of management as part of this group. Perhaps you will give us some insights into cost trends, market trends, real estate trends and any other kind of relevant trend you can think of.
