We, too had planned to be up this weekend. The weather looks like a wash out, so we will stay here! I did love the first fall in the log home. We are planning to go up next weekend. Keep me posted on weekends that you will be there. I am sure we will find one that we are both there, so that we can finally visit! Alexis

We seem to keep missing each other. I just returned home this morning. I was there for a week. We might get back up for the Wine Festival next weekend. After that we will not be back until the end of the month. My cell phone is(410) 456-1513. If you get this message. I can let you know if we will be up next weekend. Alexis

My son-in-law was born and raised in Maine. He has been skiing since birth. No medical background though. He is a telecom engineer for Verizon Wireless. My son is an athlete. He played baseball through college. Now he is a Phys-Ed teacher and coach,so he is certified in CPR, first aid and all that other good stuff. Your husband sounds just like mine. He broke his shoulder, but not while skiing. He was walking the dog. The dog chased a squirrel down a ravine/broken shoulder. I am not a skier. I would like to try cross-country skiing sometime though. Looking forward to when we can get together to share. Have a great time at the lake this weekend. I wish we were going to be there. Keep in touch,so that we can find a time we are both there. Alexis

Sounds good! We can check in with each other to compare plans. We do intend to be there a good bit in August,September and of course for Autumn Glory. My son and son-in-law, both good skiers, were approached about ski patrol! What do you all think of it! Thanks, Alexis

Hi Loree! We will not be there this weekend. We had plans to be there, but my husband's has to be here (work related) on Saturday and Sunday! He is a pharmacist and an executive for a chain. It is not fun when he works weekends! We will be ther next weekend. Will you? Let me know your schedule of visits, so that we can get together! Alexis

Hi Loree,
Great to meet some DCL neighbors!
My husband's family has owned property on the lake since the '40's. We were finally able to buy own own property on the lake 3 years ago. Yellowstone Log Homes are building our home. We have three different friends who they have built houses for and all three of them speak very highly of Yellowstone and would definitely build again with them. So far our design and build has gone very easily and the Yellowstone guys are great. I have a blog of our construction at http://deepcreeklakelogs.blogspot.com . Good luck with your build!

Hi Alexis - great to hear from you so soon. We have two boys - twins, one at VA Tech and the other at Radford, so we have to keep the VA house for at least another 2 years - or until the market comes back. We actually have a house in Mountain Lake Park - in Southern Pines - kind of near the hospital. Plan is to sell the Leesburg house and then move to Mtn Lake Park while we build. Would you believe, we bought the lot in the Highlands the first weekend we went to Garrett Cty to ski? Still cannot believe we did that! We would love to come see your home someday. Now I know where you are too - love that area. And, I think years ago I met Marie Gallatin at the "little Alpine Club" at the Wisp. At the time, I had not heard of it, but have driven by since and it is beautiful. Glad to have found you - have you met others on this site who live in Garrett County?

Hi! Loree, Nice to meet you. We have three children, two have completed Masters Degrees and the oldest has completed her doctorate in Psychology. We always vacationed in Deep Creek in the winter. After our tuition days were over, we bought property in Gallatin Woods(off Lake Shore Drive). We thought we would just sit on our land for a bit. That lasted about six weeks. We then signed with Mountaineer Log Homes to begin construction. Since we have been there and done that in the area, let me know if you have any questions. I know exactly where your property is. Very very nice area! We are up every other weekend. If you are in the area send me a message. You might want to come by to see our home. You are most certainly welcome. Good luck with your process. It is lots of fun! Alexis
