"Try Kijiji, my husband has had a lot of success selling a variety of items on their site and best of all it is free."

Marla replied to Autumn Kozimer's discussion Baseboards on Irregular Logs
"Personally, I don't think baseboards are necessary on log walls.  We just slid our flooring under the bottom log, which sits on a 1x8.  The only place we have baseboard is on the interior walls which are framed and drywalled."

6 days and counting...

Our beautiful new home will be arriving in just 6 days. I know it is just the shell and there is still so much to do before it will truly be our home but I can hardly wait. It is also so frustrating - I had surgery on my foot a week ago and will be unable to participate in the actual set-up. I am hoping to get around on our ATV and take pictures with the digital camera. I have also decided that hot fresh baking for coffee breaks and hot lunches will be in order as the temperature has taken a… Continue

Timely find

As I was going through my recipe file this morning I found a newspaper clipping that I thought I would share. It could apply to building as well as renovating and your relationship with your contractor as well as your spouse.

Maintenance required on Relationships.

To avoid quarrels while renovating, therapists advise the following:

1. Assign and outline duties so you don't fight about who is supposed to do what.

2. Be realistic about the time and money… Continue

Waiting....

The fellow who is taking care of the foundation forgot to reserve a tamper so now we have to wait until Friday to tamp and backfill. A small thing I know but the pressure is on to get the subfloor and deck finished as our home is scheduled to arrive in 30 days.

August 22, 2008 - Well its Friday and we have had a little better than an inch and a quarter of rain since I wrote this. Needless to say there is standing water where it has to be backfilled and we can hardly walk because the… Continue

I like your photo's, I also love to fish, looks like your hubby has a whole ocean at his feet, we only have a small lake, do you have any finished pic's of your place from the outside, or are you still working on it ? What a day it has been today ! The foundation was poured today and it was a scorcher, 32 degrees Celsius. I made sure everyone had plenty to drink and the girls took Angel, the dog, down to the creek for a swim and a drink too. Our home is starting to seem more real as we progress from doodles on paper to blueprints to watching the excavator digging the hole for the foundation and now the walkout basement has been poured.
