Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
Normal G.R.I.T.S. (girl raised in the South) of Celtic/American Indian roots. Retired early due to health problems (I'm working to fix that...). My husband and I are building in the Clinch Mountains of eastern Tennessee. We currently live in Florida. I'm from North Carolina and he was born on the Naval base in Cuba (way before it got a bad name there) and raised in Virginia. Our log home should be ready by Spring of 2009, but things move very slowly in Tennessee it appears! ... course that's one reason I'm moving there. ;-)
Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
On my way (maybe early August of 2009). We're going to be within walking distance of Robert and Susan (Combes) and Yona (Dunning) and Kay (Welch), both of this site who are "road dogs" of mine and my husband Sky.
What timeframe are you looking to start your dream home?
N/A

Corner Woodburning Fireplace

Happy Holidays! Our contractor has suggested that we place our wood burning fireplace in the corner of the great room (rather than along one wall) to have more room for furniture against the wall and larger windows. I haven't been able to find many photos of this concept and wondered if someone was going this route. Pictures are much appreciated! Thanks.

Good day,
I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and demand it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on(mrs.bb.abiolabawuah00@gmail.com) for the full details.

Have a nice day.

Marsha - Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My one son that had been in Iraq is now home, but now our youngest is currently serving in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division. And so it goes.....

Thanks! Who is raising your log home?

My dog willy is a wild one! He rides in the back storage hole in my Kayak.

When all of you guys get together, we should plan a trip to visit with Avi and Overhill gardens. Bring camping gear if you have time, because he is right next to Citico Creek and Cherokee Nat. Forest. Many campsites along the creek and excellent trout fishing and hiking trails. If you have horses, great horse riding as well thru the forest! Take care and lets all keep in touch!!!

best regards,
Dave

an actual fireplace that burns wood will have some clearance issues with regards to how close combustable materials(wood,etc..) can be to the fireplace opening. check with your local building official and they can give you the necessary info.
