"After you put your foam down you can run 2x4s vertically 16 inches on center and fasten them to your purlins through your foam insulation. Then you can.run your sheathing on them. Hope this helps."

"Matt, send me some pictures and dimensions of the roof and I'll provide an estimate and feedback.  I'd definitely rip off the old foam and do a built-up R-38 rigid insulated roof.  Your 1 3/4 (or 1.5") roof decking is plenty…"

Roof venting Questions

Hi Guys ,  new to the forum.  My question is I have a 25 year old log home in NJ that needs a new roof. I have purlins 4 ft on C with 1 3/4" t&g wood on top of that. On the outside  there is 1" of foam and then the shingles.   There is No ridge vent. I have 3 ugly roof vents on the back side of the home. I want to loose the round silver vents. Can a ridge vent be cut into this kind of roof??  Also I want to strip the old foam and re foam thicker, any ideas on this??? My local roofer is…See More
