Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
A few weekends a month

Our log home, Hanging Rocks Lodge, is located near Romney, WV on just under 25 acres of mountainous forest. It was built by Timberwright Creations from October 2006 - March 2007. The logs were milled by the G.R. White Lumber Co. of Pennsylvania. The house is about 1800 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and roughly 850 square feet of decks and porches. The logs are D-Shaped Eastern White Pine with dovetail corners.

Although we had the home built, we did provide a lot of the materials, almost all of which were purchased online. Nearly all of the light fixtures, ceiling fans, plumbing fixtures, shower doors, appliances, bathroom vanities, and even light bulbs are from the web. Once the home was finished, almost all of the furniture and decor items purchased thus far were purchased online. Our builder (and others) thought we were a little nuts for purchasing some of these relatively big-ticket items sight-unseen, but everything worked out well. And we had no issues getting vendors to replace any items that arrived in less perfect condition. This was a great way to save money, or at least get higher quality items for the same amount. It also made us feel like we had more active role in getting the house finished, even though we didn't do any of the work ourselves.

We use the house as a vacation home, so the landscaping and decorating are still in progress.
