"After a great deal of research and testing I decided on TWP 100 series by Gemini Coatings. This is an oil base penetrating stain that has held up on my full log home and log sided garage quite well for the last 7 years. I did not need to put my…"
"Whose stain did you use for the previous staining?
I highly recommend you remove the trees and bushes up against the house. This is not recommended along side a log home. You trap moisture, mold, mildew, etc.
Most of what you have can be done…"
"Hi Patty. I am pleased to see that TWP is performing well for you. When I suggest spray and back brush I am using a garden sprayer that sprays only stain, not stain mixed with air. It goes a little faster than just a brush. I suggest back brushing…"
"I have successfully used TWP and did not need to re-stain with a fresh coat for 5 years on the 3 sides not taking most of the sun. For 4 years on the most sun exposed side. I could throw a cup of water on the logs after 4 years on most sun exposed…"

"Why not try Timbor or Borada D. You can buy a 5 gallon bucket for about 95.00 that will do every piece of log, log siding, CDX, 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, etc in the home. You mix the borax salt in hot water in 2 gallon garden sprayer and spray it on all bare…"

Hi Terry...My name is Julie. A newby here in the Neighborhood of Log Cabins.
My husband and I built a log home in 1982. We love it. It isn't finished yet, believe it or not. Money can be tight here in Downeast Maine. And raising a family years ago....kids come first.....now we are beginning to do more work in our home....fun! We would love your "How to do sheet" on preparing and staining exterior logs. Our logs are cedar. We have never properly treated them. Only a sealer was used. Sure could use your advice. We want to stain our cabin in the Spring, money permitting. Our email is email@example.com Thanks!
We're going to be building a log home in the next year or so and I have been researching stains. I would love a copy of your "how-to" sheet.
Thanks for all the info you have posted online!
I'm brand new to the forum but a 16-year log home owner. I've gotten lazy over the years and now find myself needing to do a good amount of work on my home to bring it "back up to snuff". I plan on taking a week off in July to do just that. I'm looking at wood rot, checking, other "soft spots", etc. Lots of recommended products out there. You seem like "a guy in the know". Could you please send me a copy of your "How-to-do" sheet? I'd greatly appreciate it and I hope you don't mind my "checking" in with you from time to time (That's a bad log home pun!).
Hi Terry: I would love a copy of your how-to book on staining logs. Julie and I plan on staining our this summer. I do want to make the best possible decision after reviewing all the facts/information I can. My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org . Thanks, Dave
