"Whether you caulk it or not, you could end up with rot. There will be snow and rain hitting that cedar timber a lot. Definitely the accumulated stuff could exacerbate that if allowed to fester under that edge, but even if you caulk to prevent that…"

"Thanks for your reply CharisB and the person from Colorado Log Home Finishing.  My concern is that if I DO NOT caulk or seal the bottom, that debris will get lodged between the shingles and the timber.  That debris will hold water and…"

"I will let others give you advice on the caulk/no caulk. I have seen it done in similar situations with no problems, and I've seen the opposite. Especially if you use a low-elasticity product, there could be issues with the sealant pulling the…"

"I saw some of your earlier posts.  I restained this year.  Actually sanded all logs that where shagging or in need of repair.  My house is 2800 sq. ft. and I sanded maybe 15% of the logs....took 2weeks but did turn out very…"

"Your house looks very nice.  Green will be great.  Take a look at a log home mag.  ALL GREEN ROOFS.  Afraid I may have to give the green roof in order to take other parts of our restore.  "

"My wife and I are also going through the motions on this decision...  She is on Colorado Log Home's side, hates green wants brown..  I liked the idea of a green roof, personally.  Would love to see the after pics. "

"A new roof is a new roof and a new roof looks really nice no matter what the color.  That said after looking at your pictures I'd go with the Dark Brown because the Forest Green is going to fade to ugly green after a couple of years of WI…"
