anyone know if the diff between #1 and #2 logs is a significant issue?...we have the possibility of getting #2 D logs with round logs for our truss and interior vs. squared off ones?

My advice would be to go to your local hometown bank and try for a construction loan and then convert it into a mortgage when you get occupancy…"

Looking for a log home company/builder for south of Boston,Ma
We pretty much have the home designed that we'd like to have built which would be in place of a existing summer cottage.....due to building restrictions and granted variances ( another story in and of itself!) we can only go 18ft wide by 50ft long towards the water....all existing cabins/models don't fit our needs so I guess it will take a custom design

We can do pine as well but in the grand total there is not much difference in price. Are you doing one story or two? Are you using the existing foundation? I build all types of homes, not just log. Even with ground up construction on a modular, it would be hard to do it for that price.
But I work very hard to get a house to come in on a clients budget. There are ways to get a log home at a lower cost (no post & beam roof, stick framed or trussed, etc).
If you can give me more details on what is involved and what does or does not need to be done (for instance, do you have a sewer or septic already, do you need a well) I can see what we can do for that budget.
