After the second greatest recorded snowfall for our area we made it into our cabin Saturday, May 14. Some of the local snow measuring sites have over 250% of normal for snow accumulation. Had to use snowshoes from the parking lot for the last 1/4 mile. 3-foot drifts still in front of cabin, but made it over them. Here it is mid-August and finally getting some things completed. We got deck rails up and will begin staining them this weekend.
Contractor finished inside stairs and all I can say is WOW! The top stair is 7-feet wide. Why 7-feet? Original stairs were only 32-inches to fit between second floor support logs and code required minimum of 36-inches. My contractor said it was his fault and would build a STAIRCASE to be proud of - at no costs. Kind of a sweeping stair you would see in some southern mansion.
Next step(s): Contractor to chink and stain inside, rough-in plumbing, and get 4-way inspection. Then we finish inside: custom cabinets for kitchen and bath on order, tile shower and bathroom floors, carpet bedroom, put down floor in living area, get wood-burning stove (on order) installed - then final inspection and certificate of occupancy.
Hope to have all this done by end of September.

DONE!!
After 2+ years we are finally done. Had our final inspection on Tuesday, August 3rd, and everything went great. As the building inspector said: "Now your work really begins".
I have posted some new pictures of our finished living-kitchen-dining area. Of special note are the bamboo floors, they have turned out exceptionally well. Quite durable, cheapter than hardwood or pine, and a renewable resource. Made by Home Legend and we got them at Home Depot.
