"This weekend sounds like the perfect weather for a canoe ride down Bear Creek. Temps will be in the 90's with lots of sun. Bear Creek goes by My Ozark Log Home. Might be a good time to stop and see it for yourself! Call for an appointment."

Mapping Out a Design

Before my daughter was born, my husband and I spent hours playing with graph paper and furniture cutouts to determine the best layout for her nursery. It’s amazing how quickly a decent-sized room can become consumed with furniture — even when said pieces are pretty much just a crib, dresser and rocking chair. Add in…See More

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes

We're just about get production underway on our next issue of Country's Best Cabins, which will focus on energy efficiency. By delving into some of the recent habits and trends surrounding the concept of "being green," we discovered that one of the biggest factors in becoming more efficient is not a thing or a label or a process, but a person: you.

A change in the way you look at your consumption habits can do wonders for your utility bills. Simply operating major appliances on… Continue

Technology Tools

In light of the fact that it is The National Day of Unplugging (observed from sunset on Friday, March 23, to sunset on Saturday, March 24), which I know many log home and cabin owners are likely more than happy to do on any given day to unwind and reconnect with the outside world, I’m curious to what degree you all have found technology to be actually be advantageous in your quest for information surrounding construction, financing, land, etc., for your dream place.

Whitney,

I really like George Gibsons work.

Do you think you folks could do a photo spread and story etc. on the "Rustic River Cabin"?

My husband I just retired and are enjoying our new lifestyle in our log home in NC. Having lots of fun decorating it. Now beginning to work on some flower beds but some of that may have to wait until spring. As a native Floridian, I'd never really experiended a change of seasons. This is great! We always decorated our FL home with 3 or 4 live Chistmas trees including one 14 ft. This year we will start a new tradition of going to a real tree farm and getting our tree instead of Home Depot! Can't wait!

Whitney, got the copy of the "Country's Best Log Homes". Thanks for the article. When will that issue go to the news stands? I've been to our local Barnes & Noble everyday so I can buy some extra issues. I plan to frame the magazine cover and the page with the write up and put it up in our cabin.

Whitney... a warm welcome to you and your black bear... I assume that's either a bear or 'Bigfoot'. Either way, glad to have you join our community and you really should sign on to 'Log Dogs, Cats & Critters'.
