Proof my cat owns our log home!

Marvin the cat loves our trips up to our log home as much as we do! Seriously. If you saw how well he behaved in the cat carrier (no violent banging against the sides!) - you would believe me. But I have noticed that he has claimed ownership of our log home. I submit the following as proof!

Window construction

All,

Let's hear about your experiences with types of windows such as single, double, triple glaze, etc. Also throw in what you found out with frames of wood, aluminum, vinyl coated etc. A lot of us would be interested in the effect on insulation from cold and containing A/C costs as well as sun bleaching of logs from UV. One Man's Junk...



I'm often asked by readers how they should add character to their house. My first answer: You're building a log home, so it'll have 100% more character than anything out there...



But I know they want more; countless ways exist, and they include both design (built-ins, bump-outs, bunk rooms) and decor (a burled-wood mantel, for example). One way is to add architectural salvage to your home...that is, reused/recycled material from another building.
