Call it global warming if you like, or maybe climate change, but this has been an odd winter in Richmond. The only real snow of the year started last Sunday midday and came down in wet clumps for hours, sagging telephone wires and tree limbs. As we should have expected, the cabin neighborhood lost power. We've designated Gotham as our safe house in case of emergencies…Continue

Looking for an experienced Log Home builder in Southwest Missouri.
Every day, it seems, there is more to see in the cabin. Mike has been helping with painting and other things, while Mr. Seals works on framing the windows and doors and on finishing, bringing definition to each small space. He has a base coat of clay on the walls. They are white now, so we have to squint to see their future color. Pale blue paint is going on in the den and russet brown added to the trim on the fireplace…Continue

I just posted up two pages of pictures of my brother's log cabin in Wyoming. The first is his original project 20 years ago, and the second his addition 5 years ago.

Production just wrapped on our annual Cozy Cabins issue, featuring 10 great cabins that provide plenty of idea book-worthy photos to save. More important, though, are the stories behind those images. Each homeowner has a unique experience to share, with helpful advice from a first-hand perspective that inspires and motivates so many of you with your own dream.
These stories fuel my own idea book as well with interesting topics and concepts that I can…Continue

Hello Log Home Lovers,
Almost exactly one year has gone since we started building Villa Linnea. Time to reflect on 2011.
It all started in early February. We had tons of snow on the foundation. It took several hours of tractor work, 6 hours of heavy duty snow plowing, and some 15 man hours of snow shoveling to get the foundation in shape for the log assembly.…Continue
