The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

I have watched, every aspect of log home manufacturers, management, over the years.  I have seen many go out of business, through bankruptcy, whatever reason???  There are four companies, that have had the same Director of Dealer sales, and all four have gone under.  Amerlink,( read news reports) went out, now I don't know if they re started under a different name or not, then there was Tennessee Log Homes,(bbb report) then Kuhns Brothers I have read (news articles) stopped their log home part of their business, but they still have a mill, and most recent, Daniel Boone Log Homes (bbb report).  I'll leave this up in the air, but if anyone can figure the common demoniator, please by all means reply!

Richard, You are one scary dude. Slamming the government and using your opinion to spread bad information is not what this site is for. Folks need good solid information about log and timber frame homes. Our industry is at the forefront when it pertains to energy efficiency and structural integrity that the housing industry tries to duplicate in their systems. Green building is not just a fad it is the future.

A past President of the Log Home Council (Lynn Gastineau) shared the same outlook regarding what can be expected with new homes and the codes they'll have to meet in the future. I had a long talk with her when I visited her model homes their in central Missouri. She said if your going to build a log home than do it no later than 2016. Apparently some pretty stringent building codes are going to kick in. She said the log home industry is going to have to do some homework to stay alive along with a good lobby to help out in her home state and DC.

A sad bit of commentary to say the least. My wife and I have targeted next as the year to build.

John (Jock) Davidson  I've seen his name on all four web sites in the past as some type of director of dealer sales.  So who knows, maybe these companies are just part of the economy downturn, or bad sales techniques???

henry, just name names if you have to. You need to get it off your chest. You don't have to defend the truth as they say. It might prevent a manufacture from making the same mistake if the Dealer of Directors (certain individual) is the problem. Just be sure of yourself.

Is the "NC" the Log Home portion of the Kuhns Bros business? Because it's the log home business they got out of from what I read.

By the way Conestoga, I love your web-site. The part where you can "insert" furniture within the floorplans can give you a ideal if the square footage you (I) have in mind is enough or to much. Good touch. I got turned on to that at a Log Home seminar in Branson, Mo 03/2012 from an attendee.

They only bought a dealer's model in NC, they did not buy any part of Kuhns.  While their blog may imply otherwise, if you noticed there is one place where they inserted "nc", which is a dealer in North Carolina.

Good for them!  It is nice to see something work out in this industry!  I wonder who their Director of dealers is???

I just read that Log Cabin Homes purchased Kuhns Bros assets. That manufacture just keeps gobbling these companies up.
