Ask anyone I know, and they'll tell you that it’s no secret that I’ve long been a fan of all things tiny. From miniature condiments to miniature ponies (I met some while on my trip to Texas), it’s true that great things really do come in small packages.
And one of my all-time favorite things in the whole wide wee world? Tiny houses. From cozy cottages to the Tumbleweed houses
(some come as small as 70 square feet), I just love the fairytale feel of a little piece of peace and quiet to call your very own.
So a few weeks ago, while I was visiting the darling town of Brenham, Texas, imagine my surprise when I arrived at my B&B to discover I was staying in an adorable log-cabin tree house! With its own mini stove, fridge and wee TV, it really was fit for a teeny tiny king.
After just three days of sleeping among the treetops, I’ve decided that I’m going to need one of these private getaways for myself one of these days. Gone are my goals of having my own office in my future home. (I’ve always wanted a pale pink room with a huge bulletin board and a MacBook Air to call my very own.) Instead, I now want a tiny retreat, right in my own back yard. With thick chinking, bright red shutters and boxes of flowers dripping over the railings of the front porch, it would be the perfect little haven for reading, writing and getting away from it all.
Virginia Woolf once wrote that a woman must have “a room of her own,” but I’d much rather have a cabin treehouse of my own, wouldn’t you? To see pictures of my visit, just check out the main page at www.loghomeu.com.
