The majestic setting drew the Smiths to the site and inspired their vision for a home that takes full advantage of the jaw-dropping view.
“There are two types of people in the world: perchers and nesters,” says lookout tower owner Bick Smith. The tower is perched on a 1,400-foot mountain ridge and rises three stories above the ground.
This hewn-log home is perched on the wooded shore of Douglas Lake in the northeast Tennessee.
Bedrock on top of the mountain proved difficult to blast through, but it now provides a solid foundation for this majestic timber home.
