Have You Thought About Landscape Design For Your Future Log Home?

While getting started on the plans for your new log home, part of your plans will have to include landscape design.

There are many things to think about when planning your landscaping project! Do you entertain a lot, and want plenty of green space? Do you want it smaller and cozy? Do you like to garden?

Some plants, trees, shrubs and flowers will require more maintenance than others! If you like to garden, and plan to spend time taking care of your plants, you can really make your back yard an oasis! If you are a bit too busy, and want lower maintenance plants, there are certain plants to purchase and plant that will require not as much time and effort, but will be just as beautiful!

You will also have to think about the sun and shade. For example, many plants require plenty of sun and some plants will need shade! Your local garden center will help you with that.

As far as trees go, a local arborist will be able to take a look and advise you what trees do well in your area.

Landscaping is an important part of your overall design process. After all, it's your dream!

Typically, the hardest part is where to start. Surfing through the internet, book and magazines, as well as looking at other homes you love will help! Landscaping professionals will also be able to help you get where you want to be!

Happy landscaping!

One thing I would like to add to this is that to protect your logs and your finish system it is a good idea to keep your landscaping at least 18 inches away from your home. This will help keep bugs and critters away from your home and it will keep branches and leaves and such from getting into your gutter system or from brushing up against your finish system causing quicker break down.
