We have owned the home for 10 years and have always had a problem with the invasion of house flies and wasps in the fall but this year there are close to a hundred on the south facing window every day that it is sunny. I have tried commercial attractants from Gemplers but to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion and if it involves sealing around the window, whom do I call? Thank you for any helpful info. I'm beside myself!

Marcia, No problem.....relax as it is an easy fix. One of my clients was in your panic mode and didn't find her glass of wine palatable with a fly in it. #1.....buy some cluster busters......they are crushed eggshells in a box with holes which you place on the windowsills.....they drop in and can't get out. #2 Go to your local feed store and get the spray that is used on horses to keep flies off of their faces........it is pretty non-toxic....different names so can't tell you the exact brand.......spray your home at the right time.......this is pretty hard to time but early to late September......they breed on earthworms and need a nice place to stay for winter but some of them can't help themselves and want to live with you. #3 Seal up every joint possible with a visible seal so you can monitor if any seals break. FWIW, They were introduced into North America by some "brilliant" biologists to feed on black fly larvae......which they didn't......
Clayish type soils will breed them whereas in sandy soils they are absent. I had them on my own log home and was in your panic mode decades ago.......Been there, done that....hope this helps.
