My husband, Gerry has been building log homes for the last 10 years. He has worked in construction his whole adult life and expanded to real estate development the last decade or so. He started with building our own dream home in the Catskills of NY. This home consists of hand hewn 6x8 D shape logs, without chinking, stained in a pecan brown. We created the floor plan ourselves and had the logs cut to our specifications. The logs were delivered June 7, 1999 and it took 1 year for Gerry to build the home by himself. We moved in July 2000 and have lived blissfully in "Crooked Post Cabin" to the present. Our next adventure includes a newly constructed log home in middle TN...

Thanks John. Funny story about that tree...when first building we wanted to cut down as few trees as possible, and tried so hard to save this beautiful tree. It got hit twice with the backhoe during construction and has a big cut on the trunk. We've been watching the 'cut' get higher and higher over the past 10 years...YAY it survived! Using the house as a vacation home until it sells so we don't have to say goodbye quite yet.

Very nice home. I admire people who do it yourselves. Good luck in TN, bet you'll miss that Norway Spruce? though :)
