The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

My name is Jeffrey Iverson. Please excuse my writing because this is all new to me using a computer to talk to others. I am a computer dunce. I joined because I have had the dream of building log homes and living in a handcrafted log home some day. I was working for a custom home builder here in Reno at a gated private country club called montreux. I took a chance asking a lot of the homeowners my dream of building log homes and to my supprise one of them offered to loan me the money to get started. So I quit the job and started my dream with Log on Log homes LLC in 2006. The first year went well getting the first handcrafted log home up and dried in. Money was running low so I decided to put some property up for sale I have in Idaho to finish the project and the housing financial problems arose and so are on hold till my property sells. My objective long term is to build as owner builder and total cost to be out of pocket so the home is free and clear of loans so as to protect myself from economic slowdowns. This past 2 years waiting are a good example of what I want to avoid in the future. SSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!! Thats all for now.

Hi Cj,Shad and Ted thanks for the reply's. Since my intro on Nov 6 Iam getting more concerned about our economy with what is in the news. Our dreams can only come to reality when our politicians don't abuse there power we the people give them. I have worked very hard all my life to have what I'v earned and don't like our elected employees feeling free to take it. I hope we all have enough good fortune soon to realize our dreams.Sorry for the bit of politics but I had to get that off my chest.

Hi Jeffery.
Like cj, I too live in Florida. It seems like many Floridians ( and I'm sure others) are in the same boat. We all are trying to sell our houses so that we can build our dream log homes. In a perfect world we would sell our current homes and use the proceeds to build the log homes we want. In a somewhat less than perfect world, we would sell our homes for less than we had anticipated but would borrow the rest to make up the difference and proceed with building that perfect log home. Unfortunately, we are living in a seriously damaged society where non of the usual financing methods work. So we sit and dream. We live vicariously through the photos and the writings of the other members in our group. And we are grateful to them as they keep our dreams alive. So I say, welcome to the group and join the humble masses waiting for their dream to become reality. Ted

Hi Jeffery!

It seems you've landed in the right place - many here, including myself, are quite the dreamers. I don't see myself building for at least a decade or so (have to get the kids through school!), but that doesn't preclude me from reading all the magazines, sketching floorplans, and figuring out what to put above the mantle!

And CJ, I'll offer my welcome here as well. Hope you both enjoy the Neighborhood!

Hi Jeffrey,
I'm a new kid on the block also who just can't sell in order to build. The horror story is I will not get the money needed to build unless the market goes up.....hmmmm doubt that.
As it stands everything is on hold and all I can do is wait.
This is a friendly bunch here who seem to welcome me even though building is far in the future at this time.
