We had an unexpected trip to the UP at the end of May and decided to take this time to begin our construction phase for our log home. In what seemed like a whirlwind event - we met with Jerry Koski (http://www.koskiloghomes.com/phpstuff/test.php#
) and toured a couple more building sites. We drew up the plans at his kitchen table and proceeded to dream about the finished house.
Our house will measure 35" by 44" and will include a basement and a 1/2 loft. The great room will face the lake and include large windows. We had to balance the north wind against the view and the view won out. We'll have an open floor plan with 2 bedrooms and one bath on the main floor. We'll eventually finish the basement and include the laundry, another bathroom, and a TV/family room down there. The loft will be our get-away escape room and have a nice seating area and possibly the home office - final decisions are still up in the air.
Timeline prior to this includes: purchase of the property (August 2008), approval of construction loan (beginning of 2010), and selection of builder (August 2008).
I have also been collecting magazine photos, reading articles, purchasing and reading books, and dreaming. This is the fun part.
I am excited and overwhelmed!
