Does anyone know how we can get rid of pesky squirrels gnawing on our log home?

Have you tried applying a topical solution containing Bitrex? It's a nasty bitter chemical that most animals hate to get in their mouths. One of the brands that I've seen on the internet is Ropel. Also you could try placing a couple of salt licks (check your local feed or co-op store) around your property. Sometimes the rodents (squirrels ect..) are trying to obtain salts or other nutrients from your wood. It's a lot easier for them to obtain them from salt licks and it may keep them off of your logs.
