Linda - check out the forums. There's lots of info on there on proper prep before re-staining.

While I'm here - looks like the stain is in reasonable shape. If you're not planning on stripping it off (which shouldn't be necessary), doing a wash with a sodium per carbonate cleaner (an oxygenated bleach) should do the trick to remove dust, pollen, bird droppings, etc. Apply with garde sprayer, then you can use a pressure wash to rinse it off. Allow to thoroughly dry, then you can move forward with re-staining.

What is best way to wash this house before restaining it? Powerwasher? Suggest any cleaner to wash it or just use water?
