Hello all... My dream is to live in a log home/cabin in the Mtns... In fact, as my profile states; My Dad had some 20 acres in Ute Park, NM.  He built a cabin when I was 5 yrs old.  And for over 45 years, I was told that it would be mine some day... well, in 2003 he sold it!! Yep, to some lady in Texas! Didn't even talk to me about it first!  Two years later, he died.  So sad.  Then years later, I find a letter from my Dad's attorney stating that there's 2.92 acres that were not suppose to be "conveyed" along with those acres my Dad sold to her; "Lilla SandlinTrust".  That those 2.9 acres still belonged to my Dad!  But she won't respond, and the attorney I called about it just said; "Well, those acres are probably not worth anything now anyway, and I can't help you". Then wouldn't continue to talk to me.  Very "ominous"....  Anyway, I hope to either sell my property here in Edgewood, NM along with some other land parcels I inherited to pay for a small amount of Mtn property somewhere, and be able to just put a DBL WD on it.  I need to live amongst the tall Evergreens, and smell the Pines!  I'm so not a "desert rat".... :(  If you know of anyone willing to trade all 6 properties of mine for any small Mtn. property, please email me, ok?  lunarose53@yahoo.com  Thanks! Karabella.  (changed my last name to my Grandparents, due to identity being compromised).  Name was; P. Reed

I tried adding a discussion in Going Green instead of on the comment wall and am not sure how to do it. I entered the discussion and text then tried to add and it said "Please write the first post for the discussion". So I'm not sure how to do that. Also when I came to your page, the left side under building systems is all drug adds. I think its been hacked.

WOW! It seems that Amerilink has negatively affected just about every member of our elite group. It's a terrible situation and it would seem that almost all the comments recently deal with the unethical practices of this company. Those of us who have not been affected would like to know what happened to bring on this catastrophe.

It seems that until the affected members get a resolution to their specific problems we will not be able to get back to business as usual.

So I ask someone in charge of this web forum to please give the rest of the members a course on what we should be looking for or better still looking out for when considering a log home. manufacturer.

Mr. Friendly Neighborhood Host - I was just telling Michael that since the forum is nearing 1000 members - should we have a milestone party? Something fun to commemorate the event?

Hey, Am I imaging this or not. It seems that a good number of members who are also representing various log home manufacturers are using this forum to advertise their wares. I was under the impression that we were here to help each other and not to sell products to each other. I realize that it often is a fine line but other times it's just blatant.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. If I'm right how do we get back to basics?

I'm beginning to get concerned that this website is starting to turn in to a free avenue for people to advertise their log home businesses. I now see two almost fighting over a potential client. I don't think that commercial names should be part of your profile name nor do I think that links to their business sites should be part of their posts. It's one thing to give good general advice but to push incorrect information as facts is wrong. It's begining to sound like the elections with all sorts of spins on facts leading to distortions to make a sale.

There are several log home representatives blogging here that have gone out of their way to not advertise the businesses and thats the way it should be.

Just so there is no spin, I don't represent anyone. I'm happy to share the research that I have done by pointing other members to such such sites as the BBB and Log Home Reports where they can read the facts first hand and make their own decisions.

I love both ideas!
I think for the photo of the month - it would be fun to have a couple categories like best nature photo, best landscaping, "funniest pet photo" because I gotta believe almost every member in here has a pet!
In the "blog for it" - I think it would be fun to open up dialogue w/ some of the "silent" members who have no photos and no info. listed.
Maybe a "blog scavenger hunt" too? Provide certain details from a certain number of members blogs (maybe 15 of them) and the first person to identify all the people to which detail belongs to - wins. For example - Who started the Critters Group in the Log home forum? Answer - Tom Heatherington. Who has property with the view of the Mackinac Bridge? Etc.
I think that would encourage everyone to visit other people's blogs. I've made some great discoveries myself - especially design and improvement ideas just by going to several blogs. There's a whole log world out there for us members to discover....
:-)
