Hi Daniel, just wondering if you have further questions about your home, please do not hesitate to give me a call to discuss this with you. I can be reached at 1 800 746 7773. thanks
I have a chart I can send to you with pics showing results after various forms of prep. Get me your email address and I'll send it your way.
Let me just tell you that I agree w/ Permachink - it's true that blasted wood is going to be more porous and soak up more stain than wood that has been power washed after chemical stripping. The thing that I will disagree with is the assumption that that's a recommendation made by makers of lower-quality stains to get better performance out of the stain. That is opinion. Any stain will definitely perform better if given a better chance for good adhesion. We don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.....But continue to do your own research and speak with Sansin. My guess is that they'll recommend you re-stain. Hopefully, they'll work with you to cover the costs of such work.
You mention in your profile that you're a musician. You play? You sing? My entire family sings. We used to get made fun of when I was younger for being the "Family Von Trapp" in modern times. :-) It's always a treat when we get the whole family together to sing again. Doesn't happen very often anymore.....
When you have a minute, check out our log finishing videos on YouTube. I think they help put picture to my words about blasting vs. power washing / chemical stripping. Let me know if you have questions. Here's the link:
