Shelly,
The storm came in about 100 miles south of Sarasota/Tampa with some flooding due to rain and tide by no real wind damage in that area. We didn't even have rain in Sarasota. It then went up the center of the state and gained wind speed to 65 mph and headed out into the Atlantic where they expect it will turn into a weak hurricane and head due west across the northern part of Florida into Geogia. So, we once again ducked any problems. The local indians always claimed there was magic in Sarasota in that hurricanes go all around it but don't hit it. Who knows, there may be something about the gulf and winds that make this happen, I'm just glad so far its true. There was a tornado on the east coast that did damage and once again the flooding has taken place. We actually needed the water in the state to relieve the drought conditions.

Larry's bar probably did change names but it was the big hangout for all the locals especially during snowmobiling. Powers used to take us through the back woods from bar to bar. I had no idea where we were but 30 years ago they had some huge snows with deep drifts to get buried in and it was cold. We lived in Rochester hills and still have our RV parts distributorship in Clawson. We used to own JRE Tire company with 4 locations.

Joe...glad to hear you came through it ok...Unfortunately, I'm located in Northeast Florida. Currently, the forecast has the eye passing right over us here in Palatka. Keep us up here in your prayers.

Sorry Shelley S., I got you confused with Shelly M. from Michigan as to my comments on Larrys bar in Michigan. I assume that you are wet if nothing else but probably safe. I can't imagine that much rain falling at once. I have seen 5 to 6 inches over here but since we live on Siesta Key it pretty much runs off into the Gulf. I think I saw about 10 inches of water one time on a low point on the island. We are only about 4 feet above the high tide line at any time but "knock on wood" since this house was built in 1967 no water has ever made it to the house. We do get blowing sand and salt when it gets above 60 mph. Plus, the salt air really rusts all my tools and other equipment. The price of paradise!
