Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
My husband & I are avid outdoors people. We recently realized our dream of building a log home in Northern Michigan. For now it's our vacation home but who knows what the future will bring. We put together a blog documenting our experiences: www.logcabininmichigan.blogspot.com .

I recently became a representative for Hiawatha Log Homes. I can't think of anything better than helping others with their log home dream as well as talking about log homes everyday! If I can help you, please contact me!

Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
Only on the weekends for now.....heavy sigh!

Fun Christmas Projects

Besides spending time decorating the heck out of our log home, I've been trying to do more crafty things since the holidays are fast approaching. I enjoy bird watching and seeing all the different birds that come to visit us. I decided my birds needed their own "edible" christmas tree and decorated a pine tree on our property w/ strung cranberry and popcorn as well as the famous pine cone feeders (smeared w/ peanut butter and rolled in seeds.) For the pine cones feeders - gather some large pine… Continue

First Snowfall at the Log Home!

This is what I woke up to on Sunday morning. I think the first dusting of snow is the most beautiful! I am breaking out the Christmas music (okay, I have a confession to make - I made a mix of the Transiberian Orchestra Christmas music and I have been playing it s… Continue

It's official!

A while back Greg and I had decided to name our log home 'The Loons' Nest.' This was due to the loons on our lake and because I just love this bird! I wanted to put up a sign outside our log home to make it official and have been looking at many sign companies. I decided… Continue

It's all about the views!

And this is why I value the views from my log home.... How is autumn looking in your neck of the woods?

Sorry Shelley - no pictures as we live in SoCal - unless of course you want pictures of ash on the ground to simulate snow. We won't be going to MI until the spring thaw next year.

Hi Shelley,
Thank you for the welcome. It's nice meeting you.
I just viewed the photo's of your log home. Very nice...Looks like you have a nack for the decorating. Love it!!!
My husband and I are from Michigan. We currently live in Marysville a skip jump from Port Huron, We are planning on building a log home out west. Although, I love it up-north. We are in the process of gathering our facts and thoughts of a log home.

HI Shelly,
Yes I have a web site: www.rosesstaindedglass.com
When I saw your loons nest sign, I knew then that you'd enjoy my Loon Lamp,
It's my design, I've been making it for over 20+ years and the one I have in my studio is #222 I beleive... I'have to go back and check... but I basicly work doing my glass around my Real Estate work which has taken over my life. So here and there I'll choose to do a custome piece for somebody, but really I am more motivated to build the Loon LIghts or my new Black Bear light....I'm getting lazy!

Thanks Shelley - I don't know what to name it. Our last name is Love and my hubby wanted to play on that - but I think it is too cutesy. So we'll have to keep thinking - any ideas?

Thanks for your good wishes. I do want to start a blog and/or scrap book - to keep a history. I have the computer program Contribute to design the blog and/or web page. Do you have any suggestions to get started? D.

Hi Shelley - I love the new pictures you posted. You home is so beautiful!

Because you asked earlier - I am thrilled to let you know our property escrow closes today! We now own "a piece of the lake!" We plan to do the septic system this spring.

Thank you for the nice comments, I just about about fell over when I found the mirror at a yard sale. The date on the back says Feb. 2,1925 I got it for $2.00. It was one of those things I knew where it belonged when I saw it.
