Photo Contest Update! Important Info!

In light of much confusion (and perhaps bad instructions at the outset of the contest) we'd like to provide an update to our Fall Photo Contest. Here's what we're going to do: Gather all images that are on the original blog post, and gather all images you send to us via email. Yes, that's right. Please send us your photos via email (andrew@loghome.com or editor@loghomeliving.com) We figure this will be eas… Continue

Got a Question? We've Got Answers!

Though we try to make using the features of our Neighborhood as intuitive as possible, we understand that sometimes things are just tricky to figure out. Well, we're trying to fix that. A few weeks ago, Rita and Joe Hickey asked us to create a "How-To" type of guide for the Log Home Neighborhood. And it was an awesome idea. The problem is, we're not exactly sure what questions were out there that needed to be answered. So we creat… Continue

Green By Nature...Not Cause It's Trendy

Since the dawn of time, humans have been forced to be innovative to overcome their problems: For cavemen looking to chase down agile prey, lighter wood was used to make spears move more quickly through the air. For Henry Ford looking to chase down more profit by producing more automobiles, he referenced his own ingenuity, and unveiled the assembly line. These, and millions of other events, gave birth to the phrase "necessity breeds creation." (You may have heard it a few times, though the cavem… Continue

Log Home Neighborhood Now Has 500 Members!

As of 7:30 AM (East Coast Time), the Log Home Neighborhood has 500 members! We would take a minute to pat ourselves on the back for setting this up, but not only would that be corny, it would also take away the credit from the people who deserve it most: You. Amazed. Blown away. Tickled pink. These are some of the feelings we've collectively had in the few months since this block party got started. Without you all, we have no community, we have no Neighborhood, and to be honest, we have no fun… Continue

Hey, Am I imaging this or not. It seems that a good number of members who are also representing various log home manufacturers are using this forum to advertise their wares. I was under the impression that we were here to help each other and not to sell products to each other. I realize that it often is a fine line but other times it's just blatant.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. If I'm right how do we get back to basics?

I'm beginning to get concerned that this website is starting to turn in to a free avenue for people to advertise their log home businesses. I now see two almost fighting over a potential client. I don't think that commercial names should be part of your profile name nor do I think that links to their business sites should be part of their posts. It's one thing to give good general advice but to push incorrect information as facts is wrong. It's begining to sound like the elections with all sorts of spins on facts leading to distortions to make a sale.

There are several log home representatives blogging here that have gone out of their way to not advertise the businesses and thats the way it should be.

Just so there is no spin, I don't represent anyone. I'm happy to share the research that I have done by pointing other members to such such sites as the BBB and Log Home Reports where they can read the facts first hand and make their own decisions.
